Anxiety Therapy in Seattle
Anxiety can feel sharp, consuming, and difficult to settle. Through anxiety therapy Seattle clients turn to for steadiness and care, I meet anxiety with the very qualities it often lacks.
A Somatic Approach to Anxiety Therapy
Rather than seeing anxiety as something to eliminate, we learn how to relate to it differently so it takes up less space internally and becomes less in charge of your attention, choices, and body. As an anxiety therapist Seattle clients work with for this kind of care, I focus on building a different relationship with anxiety rather than fighting it.
Many people come to this work feeling caught in cycles of overthinking, physical activation, and difficulty resting, even when nothing is immediately wrong.
Anxiety often makes sense in context. Together, we get curious about what your system is trying to do for you.
You Might Be Here Because...
You experience excessive worry or thought loops about the past or future and are looking for therapy for overthinking.
You struggle to be present without distraction or constant input.
You feel overwhelmed, on edge, or unable to fully relax, and are seeking therapy for overwhelm.
You experience racing thoughts or difficulty turning your mind off.
You notice anxiety in your body through tightness, restlessness, agitation, or alertness.
You have difficulty sleeping due to overthinking or mental activation.
What to Expect
We work with anxiety as both a mental and embodied experience. Sessions may include noticing thought patterns, but also paying attention to how anxiety shows up in the body through tension, breath, movement, and nervous system activation.
Rather than trying to talk your way out of anxiety, somatic therapy for anxiety works with what your system is experiencing in real time, so that regulation is something you can begin to feel, not just understand.
We may explore what your anxiety is protecting. Often, beneath it are experiences like fear, grief, pressure, or vulnerability that haven't had enough space.
Over time, clients often find that anxiety becomes less consuming, less central, and easier to move through without getting pulled into it as fully.
Sessions are paced to support your nervous system, not rush insight. We may begin by orienting into the present moment through breath, noticing your environment, or briefly tracking what feels most active internally.
From there, sessions move fluidly between reflection, somatic awareness, and practical support depending on what is most helpful. I may gently guide attention back to your body when we notice intensity building, so we can work with anxiety as it is happening, not just after the fact.
Session Format
We often begin by arriving into the space together, whether in-person outdoors or via telehealth.
This might include a short grounding practice, noticing what you're bringing in, or orienting to the present moment before we move into deeper work.
Sessions are flexible and responsive. Some feel more reflective, others more experiential or skills-based. The goal is not to control anxiety, but to build a different relationship with it — one that creates more space, choice, and ease over time.
